Starting out as a sole trader in 1982, I worked within the motor trade for 6 years buying and selling cars from the trade to the trade.
In 1988 I turned into a limited company and changed the name from Clive Watson Car Sales to Portland with the aim of concentrating on selling quality cars to the retail customer at discount prices with minimal overheads ultimately saving customers money on quality retail cars.
By 1998 the company had flourished and we started to import new cars from overseas as well as going upmarket in the quality of used cars that we sold, selling cars from £5,000 to £105,000.
Today we find ourselves in a very competitive market with car supermarkets and internet company offering the customer much more choice and freedom but we are selling more cars than ever, with our 300 cars sold in the last 12 months.
All cars sold are personally dealt with by myself from the beginning of the enquiry to handing over the keys upon collection and any subsequent enquiries or problems I can guarantee that I answer the phone to sort it out. I have 4 dedicated members of staff and can provide numerous testimonials and references from previous customers, many of whom are repeat customers.
All of the cars offered in our showroom are physically available to view and buy not like many companies who first of all sell the car then try to buy later or offer cars and take big deposits so that they can fund the purchase of your new car.
£500 deposit secures your new car with the balance upon collection, if you are buying a new car I will deal with the registration and have a selection of new registration numbers to choose from.
All cars are handed over proffessionally valeted, with new number plates, with no administration charge and finance can be arranged through a number of finance companies ie Black Horse, GE Capital etc.
